Description:

Spanish copper 4 maravedis, c. 1835-1850

Diameter 22.5mm

The obverse features the bust of Isabel II facing right. Both the date, which should be located at the base, and the inscription around the outside are largely obscured by wear. To the right of the bust is the letter 'M', part of the mintmaster's initials. The reverse features the Spanish Royal Coat of Arms made up of castles and lions rampant, representing Castile and Leon. There is also a central oval bearing the fleur-de-lys of Bourbon-Anjou. The inscription around the outside edge is largely obscured through wear.
