Description:

Portuguese bronze 20 reis, 1883

Diameter 29.5mm

The obverse features the bust of King Luiz I facing left. The inscription reads 'D.LUIZ.I.REI.DE.PORTUGAL', abbreviated meaning 'Don Luiz I, King of Portugal'. Below the bust are the initials 'A.C.', possibly those of the designger or engraver. The reverse features the denomination with the date below. There is a wreath of olive and oak around the outside.
