Description:

Luxembourg bronze 10 centimes, 1860

Diameter 30mm

The obverse features a shield bearing the coat of arms of the Duchy of Luxembourg, a double tailed lion rampant on a striped background, below a crown within a central ring. The inscription around the outside reads 'GRAND-DUCHE DE LUXEMBOURG', meaning 'Grand Duchy of Luxembourg', with a five pointed star below. The star is flanked by the Parisian Privy Marks of an anchor for the Engraver General to the left and a hand for the Mint Director to the right. The reverse features the denomination with the date below within a wreath of olive and oak branches tied at the base with a bow. Underneath the bow is the letter 'A', the mintmark for Paris, and the name 'Barth', possibly of the designer or engraver.
