Description:
Netherlands East Indies - Indonesian silver 1/10 gulden, 1891
Diameter 15mm
The obverse features the coat of arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a crowned lion rampant with a sword in its right fore paw and a bundle of seven arrows in its left, on a shield bearing fifteen smaller shields with a crown above. The coat of arms divides the denomination (abbreviated) and the mintmarks for Utrecht, a sword and caduceus. The date is below and the inscription above reads 'NEDERL. INDIE'. The reverse features Arabic script within a central ring. A second script, possibly Tamil, is around the outside. It breaks through the ring with downward sweeping characters.
