Germany - Nuremberg brass jetton, c.1553 - 1612


Diameter 25mm


The obverse features an Imperial Orb surrounded by a double tressure within a central ring. Around the outside is the name of the maker 'HANS SCHULTES' and place 'ZU NURE', 'from Nuremberg'. The reverse features a six petalled rose surrounded by three crowns and three plumes within a central ring. The legend reads 'GLICK IST WALCZ UN FL'. This token would have been used in the calculation of accounts and is not part of the coinage of the time. There were three generations of Hans Schultes' and it is not clear which one made this token.
