The obverse features the coat of arms of Argentina - an oval bearing two hands joined in front of a staff which is topped with the Phrygian, or liberty, cap. Above is the sun rising and the central oval is encircled by a wreath. Behind the central oval are spears crossed seven over seven and draped in cloth. The central image is circled by a beaded ring and the words 'REPUBLICA ARGENTINA'. The date below is flanked by six-pointed stars. The reverse features Liberty wearing the Phrygian cap and facing left. The inscription reads 'LIBERTAD/ DOS CENTAVOS' divided by two six-pointed stars. Below the bust of Liberty is the name 'Oudine', possibly the designer or engraver.
