Description:

Coin from Tysoe - English copper 'rose farthing', c.1625-1649

Diameter 13mm

The obverse features a doubled-arched crown over two crossed sceptres which break into the outer circle. The outer circle bears an inscription that is barely legible on this example, but reads 'CAROLUS D:G: MAG: BRIT'. The reverse features a rose with a crown above and the inscription 'FRA ET HIB REX'. The inscriptions on the obverse and reverse should be read as one meaning 'Charles I By the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland'.
