Irish brass medal, c.1879

Medal struck to celebrate the apparition at the Parish Church Knock, of Our Lady, St Joseph and St John the Evangelist on the 21st August 1879. The obverse features three figures, possibly Our Lady, St Joseph and St John each standing on a cloud over a small patch of grass, the inscription reads 'OUR LADY OF KNOCK PRAY FOR US'. The reverse features what appears to be a shrine with a small animal in a cloud to the left, above a small patch of grass. The inscription is in Latin and reads 'AGNUS DEI QUI TOLLIS PECCATA MUNDI MISERERE NOBIS', which translates as 'Lamb of God Who Takes Away the Sins of the World Have Mercy on Us'.
