Date:1867

Description:

German States - Prussian copper 3 pfenninge, 1867

Diameter 23mm

The obverse features the denomination above the date. The inscription 'SCHEIDE MUNZE' is arched around the top. The term tells us that the three pfenninge coin is part of a fractional coinage. At the base is the mintmark for Breslau, 'B'. The reverse features a crown above a shield. The shield bears the eagle from the Prussian Coat of Arms. It is holding a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left. The inscription around the outside reads '120 EINEN THALER' referring again to the pfenninge as a fractional coin. In this case 120 three pfenninge pieces are equal to one thaler.
