Description:

English silver fourpence/groat, 1837

Diameter 15mm

The obverse features the bust of William IV. The inscription reads 'GULIELMUS IIII D:G: BRITANNIAR:REX F:D:', Latin, abbreviated meaning 'William IV By the Grace of God King of the Britains Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features Britannia seated and facing right. She holds Poseidon's trident in her left hand and her right hand rests on a shield at her side.
