Description:

English copper halfpenny, c.1672-5

Diameter 28mm

The obverse features the cuirassed and laureate bust of Charles II facing left. The inscription reads 'CAROLUS.A. CAROLO'. The reverse features Britannia seated and facing left. She sits on a globe with a shield at her side, a spear in her left hand and an olive branch in her right. The inscription reads 'BRITANNIA' and the date is below although it is illegible on this example.
