Description:

English copper halfpenny token, 1791

Diameter 30mm

The obverse features the cornucopia or horn of plenty with a stork above and the inscription 'HALFPENNY PAYABLE AT'. The reverse features a seated classical female figure holding a fasces. The fasces is a bundle of sticks bound together signifying unity and authority. The inscription reads 'BIRMINGHAM MINING AND COPPER COMPANY 1791'.
