Description:

English copper half farthing, 1843

Diameter 16mm

The obverse features the young head bust of Victoria facing left. The inscription reads 'VICTORIA D:G: BRITANNIAR:REGINA F:D', Latin, abbreviated meaning 'Victoria By the Grace of God Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features the inscription 'HALF/ FARTHING/ 1843' with a crown above. Below is the rose of England flanked by the shamrock of Ireland and the thistle of Scotland.
