Description:

English copper farthing, fourth issue, 1806

Diameter 21mm

The obverse features the draped laureate bust of George III facing right. The inscription reads 'GEORGIUS III.D:G.REX.', Latin for 'George III By the Grace of God, King', with the date below. The reverse features Britannia seated and facing left. She holds an olive branch in her right hand and has a shield at her side bearing the Union Jack. Britannia is pictured near the sea and holding Poseidon's trident in her left hand, the inscription reads 'BRITANNIA'. At the bottom right of the coin there is the Soho mintmark. It's good condition could be the result of the improved minting process since steam power was introduced.
