Irish copper Halfpenny, 1823


Diameter 26mm


The obverse features the laureate bust of George IV facing left and the abbreviated Latin inscription 'GEORGIUS IV D:G REX', meaning 'George IV By the Grace of God, King'. The obverse features a harp, the national symbol of Ireland, with a crown above and the inscription 'HIBERNIA' (Ireland), with the date below.
