Description:

Republic of Ireland bronze penny, 1928

Diameter 30mm

The obverse features a harp, the national symbol of Ireland, dividing the date. The inscription reads 'SAORSTAT/ EIREANN', 'Irish Free State'. The reverse features a hen with chicks and the denomination, in numerical form above and in Gaelic below. To the right, below the central image, are the initials 'PM', possibly those of the designer.
