Description:

Malaysia - Sarawak copper cent, 1870

Diameter 29mm

The obverse features the bust of Charles Anthoni Johnson Brooke facing left. The inscription reads 'C. BROOKE RAJAH'. Brooke was Rajah of Sarawak from 1868 to 1917. He had inherited the title from his uncle, James Brooke, who was appointed Rajah of Sarawak by the Sultan of Brunei in 1841. The reverse features the denomination within a wreath, above is the inscription 'SARAWAK' and the date is below.
