Description:

Novia Scotian bronze one cent, 1861

Diameter 25mm

The obverse features the laureate 'bun head' bust of Queen Victoria facing left. The inscription reads 'VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D:', Latin for 'Victoria By the Grace of God Queen of the Britains Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features a crown above the date, within a central ring. Around the outside is a wreath of roses and mayflowers tied at the base with a bow. The inscription reads 'ONE CENT/ NOVA SCOTIA'.
