Description:This is a child's beaded pubic apron. It was made by the Zulu people of Natal in South Africa. It is made from glass beads, cotton and leather.

Within South African culture beadwork ornaments were made by the women, and worn by both men and women. Amongst the Zulu people different coloured beads symbolised different meanings, for example yellow represented fertility, and green represented new life.
