Description:A ‘folio’ owned by The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The tooling on the spine of this copy of the Shakespeare 'First Folio' matches the restraint of the work on the front and back boards of the volume. The copy was purchased for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust at the auction of the 3rd Earl Ashburnham's library in 1898. Full title: William Shakespeare, Mr William Shakespeares comedies, histories & tragedies published according to the True Originall Copies, London, printed by Isaac Jaggard, and Ed[ward] Blount, 1623. The 'Ashburnham' copy owned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
