Description:Petruchio talks of training his hawk in The Taming of The Shrew Petruchio who has won a wife with a fortune in The Taming of the Shrew, talks about training her to his wishes by starving her, and constraining her wishes, in the same way that Latham in his book on falcolnry advises on the training of falcons, merlins and hawks. 'My falcon now is sharp and passing empty; until she stoop she must not be full-gorg'd, for then she never looks upon her lure'.(4,1, lines 176-182). Full title: Simon Latham, Latham's falconry, or the faulcons lure, and cure: in two bookes. The first, concerning the ordering and training up of all hawkes in generall; especially the haggard faulcon gentle. The second, teaching approved medicines for the cure of all diseases in them.
