Description:The translator's dedication to Shakespeare's queen.

Above the translator’s dedication the printer, Richard Field, placed a decorative woodcut with a central figure playing the lute, as the Queen herself liked to do. This is flanked on either side by players of the viol, an early version of the cello.

Translated out of Greeke into French by James Amiot, Abbot of Bellozane with the lives of Hannibal and Scipio African translated out of Latine into French by Charles de l'Escluse and out of French into English by Sir Thomas North, knight.
