Description:Thomas Phillipps' ownership of a book Shakespeare may have owned.

The great nineteenth century collector of manuscripts and books, Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872), marked his books MHC for his ‘Middle Hill’ home near Broadway in Worcestershire. The shelfmark is added in ink below. A modern note of the Short Title Catalogue of Books Printed in English Before 1640 number for the volume has been added in pencil. The volume was acquired by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust at auction in the 1970s.

Full title: Henri Estienne, A Mervaylous discourse upon the lyfe, deedes and behaviours of Katherine de Medicis, Queene mother: wherin are displayed the means which she hath practised to atteyne unto the usurping of the kingdome of France, and to the bringing of the estate of the same unto utter ruine and distribution. At Heydelberge [London, H. Bynneman?], 1575.
