Description:A family portrait taken on the Great Hall steps at Warwick Castle around 1895. Seated in the centre is Frances Evelyn Brooke, the Countess of Warwick (known as 'Daisy' since childhood). On the right is Francis, Daisy's husband and 5th Earl of Warwick. The couple married in 1881. To the left is their son Leopold (b.1882, d.1928), later to become 6th Earl. Daisy in particular became famous for staging glamorous weekend parties in her home at Warwick Castle. These occasions were part of the high society calendar, attended by many celebrities of the time. She also shared a close personal friendship with Edward, Prince of Wales, who would later become King Edward VII. It was also around this time that Daisy became a socialist, befriending many trade unionists, and later standing as a parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party.
